Bears Lose 2-1 To Cornwall In A Shootout

The Smiths Falls Bears were shutout in  two of their last 3 games, so they were determined to get more shots on goal  to help their offence. They were successful as they put 66 shots on Cornwall’s Liam Lascelle but only Brian Bygrave could beat him as the Bears lost 2-1 in a shootout. The single point moves the Bears within 4 points of a playoff spot.

The Bears outshot the Colts 13-8 in the scoreless first period.

Ethan Mulhearn’s nifty deflection at 14:11 put the Colts up 1-0. The Bears struck back just 71 seconds later as Brian Bygrave scored his 10th goal of the season. Ethan Coltart and Anthony Ieradi assisted on the goal. Ieradi, an affiliated player from the Bears Midget AAA team scored his  first CCHL point in his first CCHL game. Smiths Falls out shot Cornwall 23-7 in the middle stanza.

The Bears out shot Cornwall 22-11 in a scoreless third period as Lascelle & Brad Dobson stood tall in their respective nets.

The Bears out shot the Colts 8-3 in the five minute 3 on 3 overtime but the scored remained 1-1.

In the shootout the  goalies remained the story until the final round when Alex Wilkins deked Dobson for the Colts winning goal.

Brad Dobson was the game’s 2nd star.
