BROCKVILLE, ON – The broomsticks were out at the Brockville Centennial Youth Arena on Thursday night as the Smiths Falls Bears officially punched their ticket to the Bogart Cup Semifinals, completing a dominant four-game sweep of the Brockville Braves.
After outscoring their rivals throughout the first three matchups, the Bears left no doubt in the series clincher, showcasing the depth and discipline that earned them a top 2 seed in the CCHL this season.
Series at a Glance: The Road to the Sweep
While the “County Road 29” showdown began with high intensity, the Bears’ clinical execution eventually turned the series into a lopsided affair.

Game 1: A 3-2 overtime thriller set the tone, with the Bears showing grit to take the opener at home.

Game 2: A disciplined 3-1 road win in Brockville put the Braves on their heels.

Game 3: The Bears exploded for a 6-2 victory back in Smiths Falls, fueled by a four-goal second period.

Game 4: A total offensive onslaught. The Bears secured the sweep in historic fashion with a 12-1 victory, leaving no doubt who was the superior squad.
Game 4: A Record-Breaking Finale
If the first three games were a battle, Game 4 was a statement. The Bears’ offense reached a fever pitch on Thursday, lighting the lamp 12 times in a performance for the record books.
The scoring was relentless and distributed across the entire lineup, as the Braves struggled to find answers for the Bears’ speed and puck movement. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Smiths Falls had silenced the Brockville crowd and sent a clear message to the rest of the league: they are the team to beat.
“The boys stayed focused on the goal from puck drop in Game 1,” said the coaching staff. “Closing out a series with a performance like we saw in Game 4 shows the hunger this group has. We’re proud of the effort, but the job isn’t done yet.”

With the Quarterfinals in the rearview mirror, the Bears now look ahead to the CCHL Semifinals. While their next opponent is still to be determined based on the remaining playoff matchups, one thing is certain: the momentum is firmly on the side of the Black and Gold.
