Beauchesne Honoured as CCHL Rookie of the Month for February

SMITHS FALLS, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) has officially announced that Carter Beauchesne of the Smiths Falls Bears has been named the Source for Sports Rookie of the Month for February 2026.

The 2009-born forward from Ottawa continues to prove why he is one of the most exciting young talents in Junior A hockey. Beauchesne’s February performance was a masterclass in offensive consistency, as he tallied 13 points (8G, 5A) across 11 games.

Leading the Pack

Beauchesne has held a firm grip on the rookie scoring race since the puck dropped in September. With his latest surge, he now leads all CCHL rookies with 54 points in 46 games played, placing him comfortably within the top 10 of the league’s overall scoring leaders.

His impact in February wasn’t just on the scoresheet; it was in the timing. Key highlights from the month included:

  • Clutch Scoring: Nailing a goal just 21 seconds after a Cornwall tally to swing momentum back to the Bears in an eventual OT win.

  • Consistency: Recording points in the majority of his appearances, helping the Bears climb to the No. 14 spot in the CJHL National Rankings.

  • Two-Way Play: Demonstrating the “200-foot” game that recently earned him a commitment to the Flint Firebirds (OHL).

A Bright Future in Smiths Falls

The recognition comes at a pivotal time for the Bears as they gear up for a deep playoff run. Earlier this year, Beauchesne was also selected for the CCHL Prospects Showcase, further cementing his status as a cornerstone of the organization’s future development.

For the Bears’ faithful, Beauchesne’s “Rookie of the Month” honors—his second of the season after winning in September—are a testament to the skill and work ethic he brings to the Bear’s Den every night.

What’s Next? The Bears return to home ice this Thursday at 7:30 PM against the Hawkesbury Hawks.
