Carleton Place Wins Highway 15 Battle 4-1

Friday night was another edition of the Highway 15 rivalry as the top ranked Jr. A team in the nation, the Carleton Place Canadians visited the Bears Den to take on the Smiths Falls Bears.

Marc Shannon opened the scoring with his team leading 10th of the season at 4:45 of the 1st period. Carleton Place responded quickly as they scored a powerplay goal just 43 seconds later.  Carleton Place jumped to a 2-1 lead at the 15:02 mark of the opening period.  Shots on goal were even as each  team recorded 14 shots on net.

The 2nd period was scoreless while the Canadians outshot the Bears 15-7.

Carleton Place scored at the 4:17 mark of the 3rd period to ijncrease their lead to 3-1. The Bears did not quit and pushed to cut the lead. The final Canadian goal was scored into an empty net to make the final score 4-1. Final shots were 39-31 in favour of Carleton Place.

The Bears conclude their busy week with a visit to Navan on Sunday to take on the Grads on Grey Cup Sunday.
