Jr Senators Nip the Bears 3-2

On paper the game between the 9th place Bears and the 2nd place Jr. Senators was a mismatch. As they say, the games are not played on paper. The Bears gave Ottawa everything they could handle but fell a goal short, as Ottawa escaped with a 3-2 win.

The first period was scoreless, but the second period was eventful as it had all 5 goals scored in the middle stanza. The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Alex DiCarlo (8) on the power-play and then Marc Shannon (6). Bruce Coltart, Matty Franche & DiCarlo collected assists. The Bears then ran into penalty problems which allowed Ottawa back into the game. Ottawa scored 2 power-play goals and the eventual game winner with 14 seconds remaining in the period.

Ottawa held a 39-27 shots advantage. Ottawa was 2 for 7 on the power-play while the Bears were 1 for 4.

The attendance was 288 and DiCarlo was chosen the first star on the basis of his goal & assist.
