Sean James voted 2022-23 CCHL Most Valuable Player

The Smiths Falls Bears arenpleased to announce that Bears forward Sean James has been voted the 2022-23 Most Valuable Player, winning the award for the second straight season.

The 2002 born Almonte, ON native finished the season atop the CCHL scoring race with 86 points (42G, 44A) in 55 games of action.

A member of the Bears organization since 2018, James came up through the Bears system playing one season with the Bears U18AAA club before one season with the Westport Rideaus of the EOJHL prior to cracking the CCHL roster.

In 117 career regular season and playoff games, James has totalled 181 points (76G, 105A).

“Since entering the Bears organization in 2018 Sean has continued to Develop, Grow and Mature his game in becoming one of the best players in both the CCHL & CJHL,” said Bears Head Coach Pat Malloy. “He has succeeded at each level from U18 to Jr B finishing with the Jr A Bears where he has represented the organization with his Elite On-Ice play and Off-Ice Excellence. Sean Earned an NCAA D1 scholarship through his dedication and continued development in the CCHL.”

Prior to his time in the CCHL, James played one season with the Bears U18 AAA club in 2018-19 before spending 2019-20 with the Bears Jr B affiliate the Westport Rideaus.

He came up through the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven AA and Ottawa Valley Titans AAA programs and is a product of the Almonte Minor Hockey Association.
