The Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears made it an exciting night for their 369 fans in attendance, as they stormed back from a 2-0 deficit late in the third period to force overtime against the Pembroke Lumber Kings Friday, Nov. 3 in CCHL action.

It wasn’t the ending they were hoping for though, as the Lumber Kings scored in OT to take the 3-2 win.

Pembroke opened the scoring in the first period with Andrew Meiniger’s goal at 9:58. Matthew Walilko put the visitors up by two scoring at 13:36.

That was when Smiths Falls goalie Bradley Dobson was called to the game to take over for struggling Kyle Renaud.

After a scoreless second period, the Bears found the net at the 5:31 mark of the third, when Ryan Gibson scored. He was assisted by Mitchell Larabie and Kyle Dowdall.

It wasn’t until the 12:25 mark that the Bears tied the score with Hayden Hart’s goal, assisted by Hunter Garlasco and Marc Shannon to force the overtime period.

It didn’t take long for Pembroke to take the win as Jarrad Vroman scored at 1:46 for the 3-2 upset.

The winning goalie was Alex Horawski with 34 saves.

Next up for the Bears, the team is in Rockland Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. start. On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the team hosts Haweskbury at 7:30 p.m.
